NOVASTAT TG 10MG Tablet is a fixed-dose combination medication that contains Rosuvastatin (10 mg), a statin that reduces LDL cholesterol, and Fenofibrate, a lipid-lowering agent that primarily targets high triglyceride levels. Together, they provide a comprehensive approach to managing mixed dyslipidemia—a condition characterized by elevated LDL (bad cholesterol), triglycerides, and low HDL (good cholesterol). This combination is especially useful in patients at high risk of atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, and cardiovascular events like heart attacks and strokes.

Rosuvastatin works by blocking the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which the liver uses to produce cholesterol. Fenofibrate, on the other hand, activates certain receptors that enhance the breakdown and elimination of triglycerides from the bloodstream. This dual action helps achieve better lipid control than either drug alone.

The tablet is usually taken once daily, with or without food, and should be taken at the same time each day. While noticeable improvements may appear within a few weeks, it may take up to 4–6 weeks for full therapeutic benefits.

Common side effects include muscle pain, abdominal discomfort, indigestion, headache, and dizziness. Rare but serious side effects may involve muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis), liver dysfunction, or pancreatitis. Regular monitoring of lipid profile, liver enzymes, and renal function is recommended.
