NITROLONG 2.6MG TAB

NITROLONG 2.6 MG CR Tablet contains 2.6 mg of nitroglycerin in a controlled-release formulation that gradually releases medication over 8–12 hours. This nitrate therapy helps relax and widen arteries and veins, enhancing blood flow to the heart and reducing cardiac workload—thus preventing episodes of heart-related chest pain (angina). It is indicated for chronic stable angina, coronary artery disease, and may also support heart failure management, hypertensive emergencies, and anal fissure treatment as an off-label use.

The tablet should be swallowed whole, with or without food, and taken at evenly spaced intervals to avoid nitrate tolerance—typically once daily in the morning or evening, or twice daily as prescribed. Tolerance can develop over time, so strictly following the dosing schedule (e.g., with a 12‑hour nitrate‑free interval) is essential.

Common side effects include:

• Headache (throbbing or severe)

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Flushing

• Rapid heartbeat

• Weakness or drowsiness

• Blurred vision or paresthesia (tingling sensation)

These usually lessen as the body adjusts. Overuse or co-administration with alcohol, antihypertensives, or PDE-5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil) can cause significant hypotension—resulting in fainting or lightheadedness.
